After the 2000 census a new district was created in the Borough
of Brooklyn. In 2002 Kevin Parker became the first Senator of this
newly created 21st district which comprises, Flatbush, East Flatbush,
Midwood, Ditmas Park, Kensington and Boro Park. With over 311,000
residents of diverse backgrounds, Senator Parker focuses on key
issues that pertain to this unique constituency including immigration,
higher education, economic empowerment and small business development.
The 21st District has a significant population of Caribbean immigrants
including the largest concentration of Jamaicans, Trinidadians,
and Guyanese in the country. Senator Parker also represents the
largest community of Jewish constituents of any non Jew and the
largest community of Pakistanis in the state.
